South Slope Communications, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of South Slope Cooperative Telephone Company, announced that it has entered into an agreement with Telephone Acquisition Company, L.L.C. (TAC) for the purchase of 100% of the issued and outstanding capital stock of Swisher Telephone Company of Swisher, Iowa.
Subject to certain regulatory approvals, the transaction is scheduled to close on or about October 31, 2008.
As part of the transaction, South Slope Communications will complete the build out of Fiber to the Home (FTTH) to customers in the Swisher service area, fulfilling a service commitment made by TAC at the time it originally purchased the Swisher Telephone Company.
Following the acquisition and completion of the FTTH build out, South Slope Communications will make available to the subscribers in the Swisher service area the same quality telecommunications and advanced communications services that are available to members of South Slope Cooperative Telephone Company, including the addition of the same calling area that is available to subscribers in Ely, Fairfax, Newhall, and Norway.
South Slope Cooperative Telephone Company is an Iowa cooperative association committed to providing quality telecommunications and advanced communications services to its members at the lowest possible cost. South Slope currently serves the communities of Amana, Ely, Fairfax, Newhall, North Liberty, Norway, Oxford, Solon, Shueyville, Tiffin, Watkins, Walford, Western, South Cedar Rapids, and parts of Coralville.
